Enjoy a hike through majestic Smoky Mountains, or take it easy on one of Tennessee’s beautiful rivers. There's no limit to fun on the sunny side of Tennessee!
Investigate the beauty and mystery of fishing, birding, or scenic cruising at Reelfoot, a large bald cypress-filled natural lake in the northwest corner of Tennessee. Reelfoot was created by a series of earthquakes in the 1800s, and is now where more than 56 fish species and almost every kind of shore and wading bird are harbored, as well as golden and American bald eagles.
Grab your best binoculars and get set for a sport on the wing! The diversity of habitats, stretching 65 miles alongside the Tennessee River, in Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge, provides ample feeding, nesting and resting areas for 301 bird species.
Get spritzed by spying on the single highest waterfall plunge in the eastern United States, Fall Creek Falls, laced with cascades, gorges, streams and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber. Stride a celebrated riverfront greenway, Chattanooga's Riverpark, and cross America's longest pedestrian bridge, the Walnut Street Bridge, spanning the Tennessee River as it flows south-southwest. Try a riverboat tour, such as super-sized catamaran River Gorge Explorer in Chattanooga.
