Breezy open-air markets, bearing baskets of peak-picked freshness. Barbecue that defines “delicious.” Wine to wet your whistle, from local vineyards. Picture perfect marina dining. Summer never tasted so great!

The ideal time to explore our farmers markets and farms, summer brings delectably ripe veggies and fruits, locally grown. Crisp cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, savory summer squash, plump peaches, green snap beans, berries and melons--all chock-full of homegrown goodness.

Take produce into your own hands. Come pick from Tennessee’s fields. Visit some of the many pick-your-own-produce farms where you'll enjoy learning about sustainable practices. Pick up tempting products made from the farm’s produce, such as jellies, jams, ciders and homemade pies. Several farms sell plants you can take home to start your own “Tennessee garden.”

Some farms offer picnic areas, hayrides, tours or other activities for the whole family. Picnics are a pleasant, refreshing pastime, and the sky's the limit in Tennessee for picnic scenery. Park vistas are majestic, with individual picnic sites ready for you. Add cooler and stir!

Go all out for a full-tilt barbecue experience. Memphis is the stuff of tangy legends, so try Charles Vergos’ Rendezvous or Cozy Corner. In Lynchburg, atop Barbecue Hill, Jack Daniel's Barbecue Pavilion offers spectacular views, tailor-made for good southern cooking and old-fashioned fun. Bite into Chattanooga’s mouthwatering ribs, wings and five sauces at Sticky Fingers, a favorite with locals and a "must stop" on your trip.

Along the way, make plans to stop and check out Tennessee wineries. From many award-winning selections, from dry to fruity, pick up some labels that are sure to perk up your palate, providing the perfect touch to any occasion.

Delight in a laid-back lunch or romantic dinner on the water at one of our beautiful marinas.
